Germering, a young city with a long history.

With its more than 41.000 citizens Germering is today the sixth largest community in Oberbayern. Its career is documented to be exceptional.

Archaeological finds show that the first Germeringer came by about 7.500 years ago. The first settlements are about 4.000 years old.
During the 1960s and 1970s Germering grew especially fast (reaching 11.160 citizens in 1961 and up to 33.891 in 1976).
Today’s size of Germering is the result of the realignment in 1978, which united the former independent communities Germering including Neugermering and Unterpfaffenhofen including Harthaus, Nebel, Wandlheim, Kleßheim and Streiflach.
In 1990 Germering became Bayerns largest district community. On April 12th 1991 it was upgrated to the level of “Stadt Germering” and in October 2004 appointed “Große Kreisstadt Germering”.
